Acrocanthosaurus, of the theropod family, was a large bipedal predator that could measure up to 12 meters in length and weigh 7.2 tons.
Its name, which means "high thorns", comes from the spines ending its vertebrae.
It is assumed that they were used to attach long chains of muscle to the back, hips and neck of the predator.
It also had a long and powerful tail that allowed it to balance the head and body as well as small front legs ideal for capturing and holding prey when hunting.
