1929. Perfect shave. Ironed evening suit. You're an hour early for the reception. A cocktail party to celebrate the new book by Sir Arnold Knox, best-selling mystery writer. After two years of silence, apparently a big crisis of the blank page, Sir Arnold has invited all the top brass around. Well, obviously, you're just a young police constable in a backwater where nothing ever happens. But it feels good.
When suddenly the phone rings:
"Hello? This is Joan Knox. My husband is nowhere to be found. He's missing. We heard two gunshots! And the guests are arriving in an hour! Please help me. Come quickly! "
