Welcome to Kingyo Sukui booth! Prepare your Landing Nets and catch more fish than your opponents!
Game in french, english, spanish • from 7 years old
Kingyo Sukui is a traditional Japanese game found in Japan at most summer parties since around 1810. Kingyo means "goldfish", and Sukui means "dip net". You have come together today to take part in the popular game of Kingyo Sukui. You'll have to be the fastest if you want to catch more fish than the others!
In Kingyo, you have to catch as many Kingyo (goldfish) as possible, by matching the colors of the dice. The Kingyo cards are arranged around the 5 dice. Players can divide into teams as they wish. Each player takes a Bowl card to place the Kingyo cards they are going to catch. A player rolls the 5 dice, then all players simultaneously try to catch the Kingyo cards that match the colors of the dice, announcing the colors of the Kingyos caught .
Some cards have bonuses in addition to the Kingyo:
If you catch a dragonfly, reroll all 5 dice.
If you catch a hornet, each opponent must discard a card from their bowl.
If you catch a Scoop, you can immediately take any card.
When you think it is no longer possible to catch Kingyo cards whose colors match the dice, grab one of the special "Medaka" cards. The game is over for you, but other players can continue to grab cards if they find any. Be careful because there is one less Medaka card than the number of players... At the end of the game, players score 1 point for each Kingyo and 4 points for the Medaka card in their bowl. In a team game, only the bowl of the team with the lowest score will count.
