A game for two players aged 7 to 107
Taking advantage of a beautiful day, bees and butterflies forage according to their moods from flower to flower. Which bees or butterflies can first land on a series of flowers filled with delicious pollen and thus win the round?
Installation
Shuffle the 20 flower cards well and arrange them face down in a 5×4 rectangle. This space represents the garden.
Each player chooses an insect (bee or butterfly) and takes the 5 corresponding tokens.
Object of the game
Meet one of the following 3 conditions:
Place 4 of your insects in a row (small alley) and earn 1 point (only on "lines" of 4 cards. Aligning 4 insects in a row of 5 cards does not earn points.
Place your 5 insects in a line (large aisle) and earn 2 points
Place 4 of your insects on 4 identical flowers and earn 3 points
Procedure
The youngest player is designated first player. Then each in turn can perform one of the following three actions:
Flip a garden card to reveal a flower and place one of its insects on it
Move one of his insects orthogonally to an adjacent card, reveal the arrival flower card and turn over (face down) the original flower. It is possible to " jump " over another insect whether it belongs to us or not (like the checkers). A movement can consist of several jumps and changes of direction. In this case, only the flower of arrival will be revealed. In all cases, the movements will only be orthogonal.
Retrieve one of his insects, turn over the flower card thus released and let his opponent play 2 times in a row.
If at the end of the movement of one of his insects a player fulfills one of the 3 conditions (see goal of the game) the round is immediately over. This player scores the corresponding points and a new round begins.
New round
The players collect their 5 bees or butterflies, the 20 flower cards are shuffled and the garden of 5×4 cards is reformed. The loser of the previous round becomes the first player.
End of game
At the end of 3 rounds, the winner is the one with the most points. In case of a tie, a 4th and final round will be played.
Variant for 4 players
With 4 players, we will play in teams of 2 players. The teammates will play alternately but will not be able to communicate with each other...
