Waka Tanka

During the summer solstice, the Sioux tribes used to send their most promising young wizards to the great Shaman. Invested in his infinite wisdom, they attempted to enter into a relationship with Waka Tanka, the Great Spirit of all things.

At the end of four days and four nights of meditations and trances, each of the sorcerer's apprentices had to demonstrate their communion with nature, by asking Waka Tanka to make one of the totemic animals of his tribe.
